I've never been out to Ligonier, and now I'm very curious! What was the retreat you participated in? BTW, I generally like driving, but I hate highway driving around Pittsburgh - too many giant vehicles, no speed enforcement, and distracted drivers everywhere. I gave a talk last night at the Monroeville Library (which I love, the folks are so nice), but getting out there during the commute window was exceptionally unpleasant and anxiety-provoking!
You should definitely go, it's a nice day trip. Idlewild is a cute park, especially if you have little ones. I haven't been to the actual historical fort since I was little but it's literally a block away from "the diamond."
I know they have something called Ligonier Days in the fall with crafts and food. From what I remember it gets super crowded but it would be worth checking out. Even going on a random weekend would be cool; all the shops I saw were really neat, the people were very friendly, and the food was REALLY freaking good lol.
There was no formal retreat, I just decided to create my own writing/test my independence retreat. Ligonier was close and easy to get to which is why I chose it.
UGH the highways around here are absolutely terrible. I think that's part of why I'm so anxious. In and around the parkways (like Monroeville, Squirrel Hill, rt 28) make me want to cry!! I've also had some bad experiences on I95 south heading through Virginia to get to the Outer Banks. Drivers are INSANE down there.
I hate driving. Especially interstate. I may become a hermit.
Maybe it runs in the family! Lol

Hope your talk went well and thanks for reading!
